55 Bible Verses About Sacrifice

Bible verses about sacrifice.

According to the Bible, sacrifice is the act of offering something valuable or meaningful to God as an act of worship, obedience, or atonement for sins. Sacrifices were a central aspect of the religious practices in the Old Testament and are frequently mentioned throughout the Bible.

There are different types of sacrifices in the Bible, including Animal Sacrifices, Grain and Meal Offerings, Fellowship Offerings, Sin Offerings, Guilt Offerings, Burnt Offerings, and Redemption Sacrifices.

In Genesis, we find Abraham willing and nearly sacrificing his only son  Isaac to prove his faith and trust in God. However, God provides a lamb at the last minute and asks Abraham to sacrifice it instead.

The concept of sacrifice takes on a new dimension in the New Testament. God offers us the ultimate sacrifice His son, Jesus who is crucified on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.  The focus shifts from external ritualistic sacrifices to the internal transformation of the heart through faith in Christ.

As Christians, we believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection give us salvation through which we are reconciled with God. But how do we practice sacrifice today as Christians? We practice sacrifice by giving the Lord our time, our resources, and our efforts for the accomplishment of His mission here on earth.
