Historically, society expected men to play the role of provider, protector, to be strong, stoic, and to hide away emotions.
The result is that many suffer in silence, which has contributed to worsening mental health issues, with many men often struggling to seek help or discuss emotional distress due to the stigma around opening up or showing vulnerability.
The statistics are sobering. According to the World Health Organization, men account for 75% of global suicides, with suicide rates in the United States, 4x higher among men than women.
However, as the world progresses, these rigid definitions of masculinity have softened, which has helped in breaking down harmful stereotypes. Men are now encouraged to embrace their emotions, foster a work-life balance, engage in nurturing roles as fathers and caregivers, and more.
Men need encouragement now more than ever, with specific Bible verses for men meant to provide reassuring words, encouragement, comfort, strength, and inspiration for men navigating life.
