Before we answer the question “Can an Adulterer Go to Heaven,” we must first understand that we are all sinners.
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word is not in us.”1 John 1:8-10
With that out of the way, let’s get stuck in.
What Does the Bible Say About Adultery? Can an Adulterer Go To Heaven?
In the Old Testament, adultery was punishable by death:
“If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.Leviticus 20:10
Other notable verses include Proverbs 6:32, Proverbs 6:27–29, and Proverbs 7:26–27 to name a few.
Despite carrying significant consequences, punishment by death for adultery no longer applies in the New Testament. Jesus extends His grace to us – adultery is forgivable if we’re willing to walk in the light.
“God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”John 3:17
Consider the story of the adulterous woman brought before Jesus for judgment.
The Pharisees and the teachers of the law condemned the woman and wanted Jesus to say something concerning her actions.

These people did not look at themselves and the kind of sins they committed. They were judgmental of adulterous people and wanted them stoned if found guilty.
However, the response that Jesus gave them shows that God extends His grace even to an adulterer.
“When they kept on questioning Him, He straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”In John 8:7-9
When her accusers heard this, they all walked away, one after the other, until only Jesus and the woman stood there.
Jesus’ message to the people was that any form of sin is still sin, and no one is supposed to judge another person.
He told the adulterous woman that He Himself could not condemn her. Instead, He asked her to repent and leave her adulterous ways.
God does not desire that any of us perish or burn in hell. He continuously extends His grace to us regardless of how the world views our sins.
God desires that we acknowledge our sins, repent, and return to Him so that we may inherit His kingdom at the appointed time.

The adulterous woman was forgiven, yet the Pharisees and the teachers of the law wanted her stoned to death. They would have killed her if they had a say in it.
What Should an Adulterer Do to Make It Right with God?
Can an Adulterer Go to Heaven? No. All the sexually immoral will not see heaven, and God will not allow them near Him.
We must acknowledge our shortcomings and completely turn away from sin.
This does not permit us to continue committing adultery in the hope that God will always forgive us when we repent.
It is a call for us to live pure and upright lives that are pleasing before God.
To draw closer to God again, one needs to genuinely acknowledge that they have sinned against God and their spouses.
Demeaning our marriages can hurt our spouses and lead them to stress and depression. We cannot claim that we have made it right with God when we have not made it right with our spouses.

So, we must ask our partners to forgive us for being unfaithful. Then, we can turn to the Lord with hearts full of remorse and confess our wrongdoings.
If we want to go to heaven after an adulterous affair, we must seek forgiveness from God and our spouses. Failure to do this will hinder us from going to heaven.
How To Avoid Committing Adultery
It is often said that mending a broken wall is better than rebuilding a whole house. And in this case, we should watch out for the things that lead us to adultery and avoid them entirely.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.”Matthew 5:27-30
If there is a habit or a friend who lures us into adultery, we better cut them off from our lives. Jesus teaches that it is better for us to live without friends and inherit the kingdom of God rather than have friends who lead us astray.
Cheating on our marriage partners can also be avoided by simply choosing not to do it.
No one forces the other to commit adultery with them. We do it out of our own free will for whatever reason.
To prevent adultery, let us choose to keep the marriage vows we made before God and stay committed to our partners.

We also need to stand firm in prayer to fight and overcome temptations. Our Spirit man must be strong enough to ward off the desires of the flesh.
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”In Matthew 26:41-42
Through prayer, God will grant us the wisdom to navigate through the challenges in our relationships rather than choosing to cheat.
He will also help us discern the enemy’s tricks to draw us into adultery.
Adultery isn’t acceptable before God. We can make things right with God and secure our place in heaven. If we desire to live with God forever and ever when the world ends, let us repent and maintain purity in our relationships.
