God has graciously bestowed upon each one of us the gift of creativity. Our creative impulse mirrors God’s own creativity. Out of nothing, He created the entire universe and every living and non-living thing on it- how incredible is that?
Through this gift, God calls us to use our imagination to think outside the box, come up with solutions to our everyday challenges, and bring something new into existence.
The Parable of the Talents in Matthew’s Gospel illustrates the importance of using our creativity fully. In the parable, a master entrusts his servants with talents, a form of currency. Two servants invest and double their talents, earning praise. The third, fearing loss, buries his. Upon return, the master applauds the first two for their resourcefulness. He scolds the third for not using his talent, taking it away (Matthew 25:23).
This parable urges us to take risks, invest in our gifts, and use our creativity because if we don’t, God will take it away from us and give it to other more deserving people.
Now, let’s take a look at some beautiful verses about creativity that teach us to be more appreciative of God’s incredible creativity and to put our own creativity to good use.
